NWCA Charity Donation
At the annual banquet for the Northwest Corvette Association (NWCA), we had the opportunity to invite representatives from the two charities we support. Tony Hartley, from Operation Homefront, and Beth Montee from Randall Children's Hospital at Legacy were able to attend to receive a donation to their respective charities. From the fundraising efforts of NWCA, which included car washes in the summer as well as our annual car show at Pied Pipers Pizza, we were able to donate $2000 to both Operation Homefront and Randall Children's Hospital.
According to Tony Hartley, the funds for Operation Homefront will be used to provide emergency financial and other assistance to the families of our service members and wounded warriors. Operation Homefront provides direct services to alleviate a military family's or individual's actual/complete emergency financial burden, as well as counseling and/or recovery support. Emergency financial assistance is in the form of checks paid directly to mortgage lenders, auto mechanics, contractors, hospitals, doctors, dentists and other providers. Other emergency funding assistance, which an applicant receives within 24 to 72 hours, includes the following:
- Financial assistance
- Emergency food
- Emergency home repairs
- Critical baby items: formula, food and diapers
- Home and appliance repair
- Furniture and household items
- Local moving assistance
- Community events
- Wounded Warrior Transitional Family Housing
The money we donated will be spread among these programs to continue to support our Oregon Military Families.
Donations to Randall Children's Hospital helps to support programs at their hospital such as Neonatal Intensive Care, Pediatric Development and Rehabilitation, Cardiology, Diabetes, Oncology, the Children's Garden, Child Life and Art Therapy programs, and community outreach and health education services.
